This summer has been a hot one: heat, forest fires, droughts all over Europe. Climate change is here – how can we mitigate the consequences? More and more farmers see a solution in agroforestry: rows of trees in fields, in whose shade crops and animals thrive better, the soil is protected from drying out and erosion, carbon is sequestered and biodiversity is created.



As part of the implementation of the Life VAIA international project "Valuing afforestation of damaged woods with innovative agroforestry", Vasyl Yukhnovskyi, professor of the Department of Forests Restoration and Melioration of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, held a series of seminars on the exchange of experience in the use of agroforestry in Ukraine.


The World Agroforestry Congress raised many opportunities to interact with researchers and farmers from around the world.


The Organic Field Days 2022 in Germany, a meeting point for organic agriculture, took place this year from June 28 to 30 at the Gladbacherhof in Hessen.

The Sixth European Agroforestry Conference took place in Nuoro Sardinia from 16-20th May 2020. This note provides easy access to the abstracts. Many of them are relevant to the European Green Deal, and to a range of agricultural, forestry and environmental policies in the EU and globally.


The EU Commission recently closed a consultation on forest monitoring. EURAF suggests in this Briefing that information about Trees Outside Forests is even more unreliable than for forests


A new board was elected at the EURAF General Assembly, which took place in the margins of the European Agroforestry Conference in Nuoro, Italy, on May 19 2022.


Election of the new EURAF Board will occur on the the 19th of May during the EURAF General Assembly taking place from 17h to 18h in Nuoro (Italy). Nomination forms are now available!


EURAF  will finally hold a proper General Assembly on Thursday 19th May. The most important decision we will take then is to elect our new board and like any board, this one needs new blood!


Starting this year, the German Association for Agroforestry (DeFAF) is now offering an extensive training program on agroforestry for farmers and agricultural advisors.


The world needs these positive results more than ever. It is striking that the two most transformative agricultural innovations of the modern age, agroforestry and holistic grazing management, are now spreading around the world from their roots in Africa.
