On 5th July 2017, the first Regional Innovation Agroforestry Network meeting was held in Poland. The event was located in Popielno in headquarters of the Research Station of the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn.
The meeting was chaired by Robert Borek and Małgorzata Gałczyńska (IB). 26 people (half of them were farmers) attended the event. The experts have been acquainted with agroforestry concepts and discussed about the opportunities to implement AF practices in Poland.
Legislative obstacles were analyzed and ways of improving AF situation regarding its implementation and trees protection were discussed. The work schedule was set within the frameworks of RAIN development and Knowledge Cloud building. As agroforestry is in a new concept for development of agriculture in Poland, all RAIN members were very excited about joint work in the AFINET project.
