AFINET bids farewell by planting more than 100 trees around Brussels

AFINET has been working since April 2017 in fostering the adoption of agroforestry practices among the nine European regions involved in the project. On our last trip to Brussels to present the outcomes of AFINET, partners managed to find some time to plant trees in the surroundings of Brussels.

AFINETers spent the morning of 10th December in a farm in Asse, about 10 km north-west of Brussels. A 3 ha food forest is being established in Putberg Asbeek Forest Farm in Asse, where our team had the honour of planting the first tree.

The food forest in Asse will accommodate fruit trees, berries, herbs, climbers - such as grapes - and root vegetables.

With this activity, the AFINET consortium is preparing to close the project. However, their results will continue to grow and, hopefully, they will last as long as the new 100 trees.
