Analysing the site and choosing tree species

Not every tree will be suitable for a given area of agricultural land. An important first step is to conduct a biophysical assessment to identify the potential suitability of a site for agroforestry.

Gunarsholt’s windbreaks in Iceland

The farm in Gunarsholt belongs to the governmental agency – Soil Conservation Service (SCS). In 1944, Icelandic government purchased the land and undertook efforts to restore the land to the sustainable production. After many years of intensive work, the farm is presently simply submerged in greenness.
