Malyn Forestry College, located, in the northern part of Ukraine, is establishing various agroforestry plantations since the landmark International Scientific and Practical Conference "Forest Restoration and Agroforestry in Ukraine: Origins, Current Status and Prospects in the Anthropocene", which was held on November 7-9, 2019 in National University of Live and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv).


In Ireland, the new Government recognises agroforestry, amongst others, as an innovative way !


Agroforestry has a fantastic potential which is still not really understood by too many in the policy-making or agricultural communities. Here’s what we propose to do to change that!

Agroforestry plots had twice as many solitary bees and hoverflies, and in arable systems 2.4 times more bumblebees, than monocrop plots.

We decided to postpone the EURAF2020 conference. It was no longer conceivable to have it in May, in Italy. Cases of infected people would start appearing in other countries as well, some weeks later.


Tree crop landscapes are known for having high potential as a sustainable alternative for the current landuse. Much can be learnt of the history of tree crop landscapes, their evolution as well as the driving forces behind.

The Mediterranean region was put in focus because of its diverse, widespread, and culturally important types of food, coming from agroforestry. Therefore, Lukas Flinzberger, Yves Zinngrebe and Tobias Plieninger invited more than 20 agroforestry and labelling experts to a three-round Delphi study to evaluate chances and barriers for labelling of Mediterranean agroforestry products, considering the UN-Sustainable Development Goals.


Before we had viruses to make our lives hell, the world worried about forest fires. As we know, it turns out that the best way of avoiding most of them is to turn forests into silvopastoral systems, i.e. to graze livestock in them. 


One of the key tools to influence it in the agricultural sphere are the so-called CDGs, or civil dialogue groups, which many of you know through reports of the EURAF executive committee.


It was launched in Montpellier the IUAF, the International Union of Agroforestry. Its board, which includes three former or current EURAF presidents.


The meeting took place at Angered farm, a farm that the Land Management Administration lease from the Real Estate Office of Gothenburg City. Teaching activities within the green sector have been going on at the farm since 2018.


The book comprehensively analyses the current situation of agroforestry in Germany and provides ideas and impulses for an improvement of the framework conditions.


Together, we are hundreds of agroforestry scattered around Europe, and the more we share our ideas and energies, the more successful we will be.


As always, interest was high; there were over 100 participants, many of whom are farmers and multipliers.


The course in “Agroforestry Systems” will encourage students to analyze agroforestry systems by an ecosystem perspective taking into account the functionality, the complexity, the multiple interactions and the temporal dynamics of an ecosystem.
